The Split Rock Yacht Club (SRYC) was founded in 1939 by members of the Crater Club of Essex, New York, and maintains a small but active racing fleet of Cape Cod Knockabouts, Flying Scots, and Sunfish which are raced each Saturday during the summer season.
The Club cremains one of the most consistent regatta traditions in American Yachting.
Mission Statement:
The purpose of the Club is to attract and develop interest in yachting and yacht racing, generally in the southern part of the open waters of Lake Champlain, near Split Rock. The Club hosts eight sailing regattas each Saturday during summer months (June-August), and members are encouraged to participate as skippers and crew on private boats. While we do not teach sailing, members may learn via private instruction, and by crewing. The Cape Cod Knockabout and Flying Scot class comprise the Club classes, but races for other classes (Sunfish) are held when member boat ownership and interest warrant.
