Membership at SRYC The Split Rock Yacht Club is an all volunteer organization and reflects the dedication, sweat equity, and participation of its members to primarily assist in the weekly regattas during the summer. Members take pride in assisting one another in launching boats, actively supporting events, and other club activities and traditions. Typically, the Club hosts eight Saturday morning races at about 10 a.m. at the Crater Club dock in Essex, NY. Races usually include a six mile course between Canon Point, Split Rock, and the Crater Club swim dock. Casual and fun reflects the ethos of the Club. Skippers and new friends seeking to crew typically gather at 9:00 a.m. by the Crater Club flag pole on Lake Shore Road to determine the race course and finalize volunteer roles. The race(s) are followed by an afternoon tea (non-alcoholic) at the Crater Club's Burnham's Landing club house to review the race results and meet new and old friends. Casual, inclusive, and fun remain themes for the SRYC. Membership applications may be requested at any time by contacting one of the flag officers.
